Strange Drinks For Better Health

A lot of people were surprised when Dr. Oz announced a new type of tea on his TV show called banaba leaf tea.  As it turns out, the banaba plant grows in many tropical areas such as India and the Phillipines, and, besides being an extremely pretty plant with bright, pink flowers, it also has some fun, mostly undiscovered, health benefits.

Dr. Oz was mentioning banaba leaf because it can help control the body’s hunger.  Basically, it has a chemical compound that acts a lot like insulin, helping to shuttle glucose from the bloodstream to the cells, keeping the body feeling like it is nourished, and not allowing as much sugar to be floating around, waiting to be converted to fat.  Additionally, because banaba leaf helps act like insulin, a lot of type II diabetics have started trying to use banaba leaf tea to help them better control their body’s blood sugar without as much artificial insulin being needed.

By reducing extreme sugar peaks, banaba leaf is provding a better balance of sugars for the nervous system, helping to protect the diabetic patient’s body from other dangers such as nerve damage and blindness.

While banaba leaf is good for helping to control the body’s hunger craving throughout the day, sometimes people find that they also need to detox to help their body rid itself of the unnecessary cravings and damaging chemicals it has picked up through years of bad eating habits.  To help combat this problem, some people are now looking to hot lemon juice as a great remedy.

Lemon can help the body in a variety of ways: it is high in Vitamin C, and it also is known to  help support liver function.  Additionally, when digested, lemon leaves behind alkaline salts which help rid the body of acidity created by exercise, breathing or a high-sugar diet.  In order to get the most benefit from lemon, a lot of people recommend drinking a cup of warm water with lemon the first hing in the morning.  This enables the body to get a “jumpstart” and begin eliminating the unhealthy wastes in its system, from the day before.

No matter how exciting these chemicals are, the bottom line is that you need to combine any supplement with a healthy diet if you truly expect to see excellent weight loss results.
