I formed a partnership when I opened my business, and we needed to sign a contract to make sure that everything was defined on paper.
My Utah business attorney told me that I always needed to have contracts with suppliers, delivery people, or anyone who was part of my business. He said that I would also avoid problems with my business partner by having a contract that defined our roles and how much we would each get paid. I am grateful for the advice he gave me. My business partner turned out to not be very honest, so when he tried to say that more of the money belonged to him, I was able to pull the contract out and prove him wrong. It was a big lesson for me in knowing who is honest, and always having a contract just in case.
