I give my parents a lot of credit for how I turned out. They taught me how to tie my shoes and jump rope. Most importantly they taught me the English language. Equally important, they taught me about safety with electricity. Because of what my parents taught me, I know not to stick my butter knife in the toaster or the electrical outlet. These are very important things.

Most people know that any residential electrical issues should be handled by a professional electrician. There is more than one way to shock and kill yourself when dealing with electricity, and personally, I would not like to discover them. This is why I’m letting the Calgary Alberta residential electrical professionals handle all my electrical issues.

There was one time when we didn’t let the professionals take care of the problem and it nearly cost my brother his life. You see, there were some construction crews that were doing work in our yard. They uncovered some electrical wires and just left them sticking out. My little brother decided that he would see if they were live by grabbing hold of them. He was in for quite the shock. The good news is that he didn’t die, nor did he have to go to the hospital. He is probably the smartest kid in our family, so there was no damage to his brain, either. We were lucky that day. Next time, though, we are letting the professionals take care of all our electrical problems.

Not long ago I was talking with a friend about what his employment was. I knew he was doing something for the government, but I didn’t know what it was. He said he was an enrolled agent. I was clueless as to what that was and he proceeded to inform me of all the areas that he covered as an enrolled agent.

First of all he told me that “enrolled” means to be qualified and licensed to practice by the government. He then said that the term “agent” simply signifies that he can represent the person, in court if need be. In essence, he has a standing pretty much the same as an attorney or CPS who are licensed to represent any citizen or tax payer in the courts if the need should arise. An enrolled agent must go through intense study and written examinations in order to qualify. An enrolled agent needs to know every aspect of tax laws as well as stay current on all the federal regulations. He indicated to me that his greatest challenge was to develop an expertise in knowing the changing taxation requirements.

Being a federal enrolled agent doesn’t come easily. Often an enrolled agent represents a variety of clients besides the common tax payer. He can represent partnerships, corporations, estates.

What do modesty and the Sony Walkman both have in common? While they both still exist to a small extent, they are both becoming less common in society. If you want to see some smut on TV you don’t have to turn to Cinemax or HBO, you can just pop on any one of the music video channels. Many videos feature about the same amount of modesty as you would find in your average strip club. The scary thing is how many young kids are watching this kind of stuff and assuming that dressing like that is okay.

One great thing about Utah is that there is still a demand for clothing products for those that value modesty. If you need to find a modest prom dress Utah is the place where you will probably find the most places that specialize in modest wedding dresses or modest prom dresses. I’ve got younger sisters and I know that my Mom has had plenty of talks with them about the issue of modesty. Since there are a lot of people in Utah who have beliefs that prescribe a specific standard of modesty, Utah has plenty of businesses that cater to those standards. I think those are good businesses to support.

When I think about summer camps for teenagers, I always think about movies like Dirty Dancing or Heavyweights. I always wanted to go so summer camp when I was younger, and I got a couple of opportunities, but they were usually week-long trips rather than all summer.

I would love to say that my summer camps were just like the movies, but they really weren’t. First of all, they were usually church camps, so we would have really boring lectures during the day and group meetings during the evening. There was a dance each week that I went, but our church discouraged dating, so the dances were sometimes awkward.

I think that the perfect summer camps for teenagers involve a lot of outdoor activities. I would have loved to go to a camp like the one in Heavyweights, even though I wasn’t overweight. All of the running and jumping and climbing and swimming would have been my ideal summer. I’m actually hoping to do something like that this summer–swim in the river or at my apartment complex pool, go to parks with my friends, and just have a really good time enjoying nature. I’m going to be starting law school in the fall, so this summer might be my last chance to do those things when I’m not so busy.

The thing about cigarettes is that it isn’t just a physical addiction; there are also some psychological responses to holding and puffing the cigarette as well. This is what the nicotine patch is missing. While in the long run, quitting cigarettes can be a difficult process, using electronic cigarettes is a great way to ease into the transition to quitting.

I should note while I’m thinking about it that I’m not a smoker, so while I can appreciate the inherent struggle of quitting something, I’ve never experienced it. However, I do from a purely academic perspective think the e cig makes sense and here are some of the reasons:

1. You can control the nicotine quantity
2. You can smoke without the actual smoke
3. You can ease through the physical loss of carrying and holding a cigarette

So if you are intending to quit, this may be the right technique for you and even if you’re not intending to quit you could use these to lessen your nicotine intake. Also, if you have any experience with e cigs share with everyone about it the comments, thanks!

I’ve been thinking a lot about what is and isn’t appropriate in business holiday cards. When I write out personal holiday cards, I always end them with “God bless and have a happy Christmas!” but it’s not appropriate to infer that there is a God when writing from a business. The holiday cards for business purposes always seem to be so fake and not very heart-felt, so I’m trying to write something that will be personal enough but still appropriate to be sent by a business.

I love getting business holiday cards, no matter what they say. Even though I’m Christian, I really don’t mind getting Hanukkah cards. I think that it’s definitely the thought that counts. Whether someone wants to with you a merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, happy Holidays, fun Festivus, isn’t it all just the same thing? They all have the same message–I hope that your life and business are fairing well, this is what our business has been up to.

For that reason, I will be sending out business holiday cards. If someone is such an Ebenezer Scrooge that they “Ba, humbug!” my card, I don’t know that I want to be working with them in my business, anyway.

Porn addiction is something that has been somewhat underground until recently. I know that the addiction is a real problem, but there are a lot of people who aren’t willing to talk about it, let alone know that it is something that needs to be treated. I believe that this is partly because it is something embarrassing to discuss, but also something that sneaks up on people.

When someone makes the choice to drink, they know what they’re getting into. They usually know how much they’re drinking and how often they’re doing it. They know if they’re dependent because they don’t feel good when they don’t have alcohol in their system. Porn addiction is a totally different problem– the user doesn’t really keep track of how much they’re using, they don’t know how much they think about, and they don’t even necessarily feel different when they haven’t used in a while.

That’s why I think that porn addiction is such a big issue. It’s a problem that most people keep it on the back burner. Until it becomes something that they can’t control at all, they keep their use out of the public. Some say that you can tell if you’re an alcoholic by how much you use by yourself, but porn is something that is almost always an alone activity.

Much like the children’s song that sings “the hand bone’s connected to the arm bone. . . the knee bones connected to the leg bone,” connection of information for any business is key. Businesses today need to consider the impact that communication and collaboration have upon success. Addressing the need of supply chain collaboration is vital. That is to say the right hand needs to know what the left hand is going to do. The chain supplies the needed information that is necessary to aid in the distribution of product, the amount needed, the destination, etc.

Managing the data secured by the supply chain collaboration can ultimately save money. If there is a good system developed to aid in the collaboration of facts it is reasonable to believe that the goal of saving money can be realized, not only by the consumer but the manufacturer as well.

Thus, by the use of a collaboration chain it allows the manufacturer to see the areas that they should focus upon. Some of these areas might be location, distributors, consumption or need. Having a database of information available for better collaboration is vital for any business to succeed. If a business has the right communication tools, it can function as smoothly as a body.
